Tourist attractions

• Parc des Gayeulles

Info: It is the largest park in Rennes and it contains a campsite, a children’s farm, as well as a swimming pool, an ice rink, a mini-golf and various sports fields.

 

 

Historic landmarks

• Notre-Dame-en-Saint-Melaine

Info: It is dedicated to Saint Melaine, traditionally considered the first bishop of Rennes and who died here in the 6^th century. The present building is classical and dates from the 17^th century.

 

• Cathédrale Saint-Pierre

Info: Catholic cathedral and historic monument. Built in Neoclassical style, it is one of the nine historic cathedrals in Brittany.

 

 

Museums

• Fine Arts Museum

Info: Great part of the collection has been confiscated in 1794 by Marquis de Robien; it comprises European paintings and sculptures from the 14^th to the 20^th century, as well as African and American works of art, and Roman, Greek or Egyptian antiques.

Info: The three permanent collections are the Dreyfus Affair, A Thousand and One Images and A World in Microcosm.
